Book description:

The unforgettable novel of a childhood in a sleepy Southern town and the crisis of conscience that rocked it, To Kill A Mockingbird became both an instant bestseller and a critical success when it was first published in 1960. It went on to win the Pulitzer Prize in 1961 and was later made into an Academy Award-winning film, also a classic. Compassionate, dramatic, and deeply moving, To Kill A Mockingbird takes readers to the roots of human behavior - to innocence and experience, kindness and cruelty, love and hatred, humor and pathos. Now with over 18 million copies in print and translated into forty languages, this regional story by a young Alabama woman claims universal appeal. Harper Lee always considered her book to be a simple love story. Today it is regarded as a masterpiece of American literature.

Book Authors:

Harper Lee

Harper Lee, known as Nelle, was born in the Alabama town of Monroeville, the youngest of four kids of Amasa Coleman Lee and Frances Cunningham Finch Lee. Her male parent, a former newspaper editor and owner, was a attorney who served on the province legislative assembly from 1926 to 1938. As a kid, Lee was a romp and a precocious reader, and enjoyed the friendly relationship of her classmate and neighbour, the immature Truman Capote. After graduating from high school in Monroeville, Lee enrolled at the all-female Huntingdon College in Montgomery ( 1944-45 ) , and so pursued a jurisprudence grade at the University of Alabama ( 1945-50 ) , plighting the Chi Omega sorority. While at that place, she wrote for several pupil publications and spent a twelvemonth as editor of the campus wit magazine, Ramma-Jamma. Though she did non finish the jurisprudence grade, she studied for a summer in Oxford, England, before traveling to New York in 1950, where she worked as a reserve clerk with Eastern Air Lines and BOAC.Lee continued as a reserve clerk until the late fifties, when she devoted herself to composing. She lived a economical life, going between her cold-water-only flat in New York to her household place in Alabama to care for her father.Having written several long narratives, Harper Lee located an agent in November 1956. The following month at the East fiftieth townhouse of her friends Michael Brown and Joy Williams Brown, she received a gift of a twelvemonth 's rewards with a note: You have one twelvemonth off from your occupation to compose whatever you please. Merry Christmas. Within a twelvemonth, she had a first bill of exchange. Working with J. B. Lippincott & Co. editor Tay Hohoff, she completed To Kill a Mockingbird in the summer of 1959. Published July 11, 1960, the novel was an immediate best seller and won great critical acclamation, including the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1961. It remains a best seller with more than 30 million transcripts in print. In 1999, it was voted Best Novel of the Century in a canvass by the Library Journal.

To Kill a Mockingbird Essay

Much bustle about an alright book. Respect the racial facet it addresses, but beyond that the book was merely a nice read, non extraordinary like it is widely claimed. Read in 9th class for Wardell 's category. I read this book in High school and did n't truly bask it. Eh. I read To Kill a Mockingbird in high school. I remember loving it. Had you asked me to state you about it, I would hold told you. But one twenty-four hours I needed an audio book to download and I thought outs listen to this 1. El libro Se divide en Department of State partes. ( This has spoilers, so you may non desire to read if you have n't read the book. ) So want to twelvemonth this once more in a twosome old ages with my Daughter. Torrey seems like a small Lookout! This book was portion of our English Literature course of study. One of my front-runners, to boot it all I would hold ne'er thought at that phase that one twenty-four hours I would pass clip life in the southern parts of the United States, which still contain many spots that were prevalent in the book. Wonderfull Changed my life everlastingly. Introduced me to go a reader. Love this authoritative! You ca n't truly cognize a individual until you walk in their places. My favourite line: Most people are truly nice -- when you get to cognize them. The relationship between lookout & Atticus & Jaish-i-Mohammed were unusually nice to read. Beautifully written... . An amazing book by Harper Lee. Kuddos to him for composing such a thought arousing narrative. The message of the Novel is non left un-conveyed. The character construct up was in peculiar the best. I Loved the Story and is among my favourites. I read this old ages ago. I liked it much more than I thought I would. Atticus is a great adult male and I loved the jokes of the kids. Meeting Boo was great. powerful, great anti-racist authoritative I did n't wish the book. Plain and simple. I can see that it is good written and a great secret plan. It merely was n't my genre. I still think everyone should read it. Though I had been exposed to this book several times, I had ne'er truly read it until I had to fix to learn it in the English 10 course of study. It 's ever a challenge to convey a authoritative, iconic book like this to life for an unappreciative audience. A authoritative narrative about the trail of an unjustly accused black adult male in a deeply racialist community. Great narrative. Loved this book. This truly is an American classic of infantile admiration and indifference. Not much else I could state that likely has n't been said. Hey, Boo. To Kill a Mockingbird nut svag 3a. This is a re-read for me, it has been over 30 old ages since I last read it in high school. I got So much more out of it this 2nd clip about! This clip it kept me really engaged and non desiring to set it down. I wanted to read this book everlastingly. Particularly after happening the film on Netflix: ) Yang saya baca versi terjemahan Indonesian Indonesianya. Tuhan menciptaka perbedaan ( warna kulit, agama, pemikiran... ) sebagai penanda keindahan. ¡Me encantó !
