Book description:

In the Pacific there is an island that looks like a big fish sunning itself in the sea. Around it, blue dolphins swim, otters play, and sea elephants and sea birds abound. Once, Indians also lived on the island. And when they left and sailed to the east, one young girl was left behind. — This is the story of Karana, the Indian girl who lived alone for years on the Island of the Blue Dolphins. Year after year, she watched one season pass into another and waited for a ship to take her away. But while she waited, she kept herself alive by building shelter, making weapons, finding food, and fighting her enemies, the wild dogs. It is not only an unusual adventure of survival, but also a tale of natural beauty and personal discovery.

Island of the Blue Dolphins Essay

Love this book! Read it in 4th class. A miss is on an island. I 've read a few different books where person is deserted on an island and battles to last. Some of them were reasonably far-fetched. This one was by far the best of them! It was the most realistic and most well-written. I enjoyed the secret plan and action. I 'll be re-reading this one sometime shortly. I truly enjoyed it! Used to borrow this book all the clip from my simple school library. Memories! This book was on my shelf, and I decided to reread it. white cat composing pov historical fiction about indigens, oscitance This narrative is truly one of find and about nature and a really different manner of life it is non driven by action or secret plan but by the scene and nature interesting take attractively written I enjoyed this book. The narrative felt existent and supported by existent characteristics of nature. Probably a biased reappraisal because I disliked the instruction manner that was used when I went through this book in grade 7. Antic Read I read this book as a kid, and remembered really small, except that I enjoyed it. Still every bit great as it was when I foremost read it. it was good I hadnt read it since 4th class but the stoping was so colonialist that sort of ruined it for me I forgot how much I enjoyed this book! Inspired by the true narrative of a adult female who lived entirely on an stray island for 18 old ages, this is a fantastic narrative of a miss 's ability to non merely survive, but thrive on her ain. Based on a true narrative, this is an history of an Indian miss ( the miss Robinson Crusoe ) who spent 18 old ages entirely on an island off the seashore of California ( near the Santa Barbara mission ) while waiting for a ship to come back to deliver her. Like Robinson Crusoe ( makes me believe of the film Cast Away, excessively ) she bit by bit learns the accomplishments necessary to last: she builds a shelter, makes tools to catch fish, and tames wild Canis familiariss and birds to be comrades. She was eventually rescued in 1853. I love this book, perfect for any twenty-four hours but particularly fun on a snow twenty-four hours while I 'm enduring from cabin febrility! ! ! ! one feel sad about that miss I must state that this book is a reasonably interesting book because it mixes survival accomplishments along with a make bolding narrative about a miss who has to utilize her environing environment to acquire off of the island alive... Fabulous historical fiction for kids about the nineteenth century native adult female who lives entirely on one of California 's channel islands for 18 old ages before being brought to the mainland near Santa Barbara. This far exceeded my outlooks. Hunger Games does n't even compare to how much I enjoyed this. I loved this narrative, pieced together by the scarce facts environing San Nicolas 's lone occupant for 18 old ages. By the unfortunate fortunes that leave her stranded on an island, and off from her folk, Karana conquers all in this narrative of Girl vs. Wild. Horribly dejecting stoping, but bloody, it 's a great read. Nice book. I liked this much! Spoiler! Its about a miss and her brother acquiring suck on and island. There household was taking by a ship and her brother didnt acquire on and she jump away to remain with her brother but thats all im stating because no 1 like a spoiler. I truly bask this book. I read the book island of the blue mahimahis by Scott O'Dell. The book is about this island and these Indian that one time lived their and they moved and forgot a miss behind her name was karana. 1. This book is about a miss, Karana, and her life on the Island of the Blue Dolphins all entirely. She watches ships base on balls and attempts to acquire aid, but as she waits, she finds out how to last by constructing shelter, happening nutrient, and contending off wild Canis familiariss. I originally read this book in either the 4th or 5th class. I remember it doing me experience so proud of being a miss. It is difficult to happen narratives that inspire small misss every bit much as this one did for me. What is even better about the book is that it is based off of true events. A local group of Native Americans get over taken and they are forced to larn how to do their ain apparels and shelter and acquire their ain nutrient. This book shows what happened in early America and instructors misss to be strong and proud. What an inspiring, though sad ( to me ) book! I normally do n't read books like this, but truly enjoyed reading about the events that perchance took topographic point in this immature adult female 's life - decidedly want to detect more about her now, cognizing that the narrative is inspired by existent life! Authoritative and timeless The narrative begins with a immature miss named Karana who is populating on the Island of the Blue Dolphins with her household. One twenty-four hours, a group of Russian huntsmans land on the island to run for otter. This is when the problem truly begins. I thought the Island of the Blue Dolphins was n't as action packed as a idea. I do n't believe I would urge this to any of my friends because it 's more of a authoritative book instead than phantasy which is a genre they enjoy. However I would urge this book to people who enjoy reading classics and nature because this book truly circles around those two subjects. This book evolves in a batch of state of affairss that Karana who is the chief character in the book needs to over semen. In the book Karana is stranded on the Island of Blue Dolphins with her brother in the beginning of the narrative. Karana thought the book goes through many obstructions to over come piece at the same clip inquiring if the ship that left without her will come back. I enjoyed rereading this novel that I read when I was in simple school 30+ old ages ago.
